As some of you may know Rama at Solar Shield and I used to have quite the competition in this area as our shops are within about 2 milles of each other. This site has allowed us to break down a pretty big barrier and I now consider us friends.

Some of you may also know that for the last year I have been having a house built. Rama also has a business doing blinds and awhile back she offered to order some blinds for my new home AT COST! At the time I thought it sounded like a nice gesture but I didn't expect that she would follow through. Either way, I did want to get some blinds from Rama. So a couple of weeks ago I arranged to meet Rama at my new home to measure up the windows I felt would need blinds.

She was very nice and after advising me as to what she felt I needed she gave me the blinds at cost. She also tried to install them for free. I almost had to twist her arm to get her to take some money to cover costs associated with time for measuring, ordering, and installing the blinds. Rama is very kind and generous. In a week or so the blinds will be installed and I just wanted to thank Rama, for the killer deal on blinds and for the great friendship I feel our two businesses are developing.

Thanks to TD for this site. I am sure without it Rama and I would still be talking sh!t about each other.

Thanks Rama and Brian

You are most welcome Steve! Thank you for the opportunity, and for your friendship. If it wasn't for this site, rest assured I would still be wallowing in my immature competitive attitude. Now let's hope the blinds fit! Did you realize the material you chose was called "eclipse"?

My attitude towards competitors has been an issue I've been personally working on for a long time. It's that bottom of the gut reaction that comes out of nowhere that I have not known how to stop. For years I've struggled with trying to get rid of it. I am someone who in general, is quite compassionate and giving, if someone was hungry and I had means to feed them, I would do so, yet if my competitor gets a job I wanted, aka now they can feed their family, I'll be ticked as heck. Even though I am not starving myself, it will still bother me. Doesn't matter who they are, if they offer what I offer, I am automatically not going to like them, and if I see or hear of them, this nasty attitude is going to come up. About a year ago, I seriously went to God so to speak with this issue, asking for help in resolving it, as I didn't know what to do, it was so automatic. The night I was driving home, after measuring Steve's house, I realized that old attitude was gone, and had been gone for a while, it wasn't just gone towards Steve, it was gone towards anyone I competed against. Finally I could just let things be and realize there were plenty of jobs for all of us, and just be happy that people's needs were being met. Many times in life, God works in mysterious ways. It took this site, Steve's forgiveness and ability to look past old stuff and God's help for this thread to be up here now. Some of you may think I am quite a dork for saying this stuff, but for me this is a milestone, and I want those who were a part of this to know I appreciate them and their part in this. Incidentally, I am not a religious person, I don't go to church, and my intention is not to preach to others. Just want to express my thanks publicly as well.

That Eclipse thing is funny. I have Eclipse mints and gum in my Yukon. I have an Eclipse deck in my Yukon. I just bought a Kimber Eclipse 45.

Interesting, I had no idea that was the name of those blinds. I am not surprised....THEY ARE BLACK.

On a side note..something humorous that happened that night Rama measured my windows. She arrived at my house early and some buddies of mine were there painting my house. When I showed up they were looking kinda puzzled at me. I got this look like "what is the competition doing here?"

Later after Rama left. One of my friends came up to me and said that Rama had told him that there was a time when she hated me. My friend said "Why?" Rama said "Just because he existed." My buddies and I got a good laugh out of that. Funny how we can develop a whole negative idea about someone that we don't even know, and once we meet we realize how wrong our assumtpions were.

I understand where rama is coming from though. I'm the same way. as long as you're more than 100 miles from me, I can talk to you, and possibly be friends.

under 100 miles? :dunno:bat:lol2 :ahole :lol2

Yep, just because he existed! I didn't hate you for any other reason than that you tinted windows in the same county, had you just cleaned them, or perhaps sold cars, or houses or mowed lawns or fixed computers or or or or I would never have had 1 negative thought toward you...but since you tinted windows, well darn you! Pretty stupid, huh? Gotta like the answer though, at least it wasn't based on anything other than pure fact! It was kinda strange walking into your house, I pretty quickly picked up on the "why the hell is she here vibes", should have brought the suburban with Solar Shield stickers all over it, and worn a solar shield shirt - might have seen a knife drawn!! Just kidding. Felt a little on alien territory though. Incidentally, you ought to post some pics of your house. One cool pad. Great colors and mixture of styles. You have one awesome place. It's huge!

Too bad I didn't get Solar Shield blinds in my house, all I get was majestics! Oh well! Better naming luck next time!

And TD, this is one of those things you need to remember when you can't sleep at night!
