Any advice??

I have two quarter windows I need to tint. My first impression was, "No biggie," figured they'd be a lot like the quarter windows in the '90's Olds Cutlass Supremes. Turns out, it's a bit more challenging...or I'm a bit dumber today.

These are out of (I think I remember this right) a '64 Chevy wagon. At the back side of the glass, the it's about a 55 degree bend; it comes off at an angle, and the rest of the glass is slightly convex off the center line.

I normally wet shrink; I don't think that's gonna work so well here. I'm gonna give the dryer sheet method a shot, but I'm leary. I don't think I've ever tinted something from the "wrap around" era...this is a pretty hard curve.

Any thoughts???

There are some old windows out there that will look like crap done in one piece.

If you can't shrink it with a 20" piece try a 40 or 60 and do it side ways.

Not the best way, but a way. :coffee

your more than likely going to have to do it strips. from the back of the window where the curve starts overlap 3 to 4 " strips vertically till you are passed the worst part of the curve. heat shrink the rest of the window in one piece. you can mess around and try to get the strips as big as you can (remember to follow the grain) but if its like the old forerunner are those old 20 passenger vans with the radical curve that wraps around the back of the vehicle, :please your better off pieceing it. there may be a tinter out there who can do it in 1 piece, but I've never met such an animal. good luck !!! (*maybe a sacrifice :? to the tint gods will help)

I always have the dude yank'em out of the rig, put them on a glass stand, pop in some Marley, grab a sixer, then burn through about half of a 60X100 roll of film til I hit the jackpot. Then, pride in tact return the next morning to messages from said dudes 53 buddies in the club, that want theres done for the same price :evilgrin The price goes up and up and up till they just cant take it. And then about 2 years later it starts all over again!!!! :dunno

I haven't seen the car the glass is out of, but this looks about right.

Now, when you say "Looks can be deceiving," do you mean that in a good or bad way? :dunno
