here is an idea

Recommended Posts

Customers are pretty happy with five years here. I suppose if I was located in a different area, I would have to compete more, and I would have to review my warranty procedures, but some of my closest competitors are selling dyed film with three year warranties.

It seems like price is more of an issue here than protected time. I have had this same five year warranty since I started applying film in the '80s... now, it is not so much of a stretch as it was back then. Now, I actually have confidence that the film/color will last as long as my warranty!

How about making the lifetime warranties 100% for 3 years with  a $35  deductable after that ? help us absorb some of the cost for those customers that keep a car 10 years are so :thumb

mr p you bring up something interesting, and I ask you this ?

do your customers get a written warranty from the manufacturer?

do they call you or the manuf ?

I could see the manufacturer calling you to do some warranty work through them but not from your customer to you and not going through the chain of command by calling the manufacturer first.

if it was an installer error like a light gap or excess dirt then I could see the customer calling you first.

so how does your warranty work do the customers call you or the manufacturer first ?

I would agree if I was the one doing all the warranties for the manufacturer and I would like to see no more lifetime or just 5 years for the warranties.

if you do alot of warranties then I would surley have a person to do all the stripping and based on that you would still be making money getting the original price for the tint and a few bucks for the strip and being able to pay the stripper for stripping the film.

of cource this would only apply to most of us that are in the lower priced citys for tint, if you charge more than the warranty will pay then I would either tell the distributorship that you won't do the warranties or you can only do them in the winter/spring months.

sprinter my warranties are through me, I have never let the manufactures get involved, we do very little warranty work, I never understood the lifetime warranty thing but we have to offer it to be competitive, however we offerd it way back when film had a 5 year warranty but we sold it for an upgrade like an extended warranty on a car we got $25-30 more and sold alot more than were ever used :thumb

Why not just use the Manu. warranty? It's looks professional and gives the customers confidence. If the customer comes back on it the manu's pay you to retint..I use llumar so don't have too many issues but have been in the same location for 18ys so I do have a few old cars come back and if they have the paperwork I have to honor it.And they pay me to do it!!
