Ford rear deck felt

I`m sure its well known, but just incase. On the Ford Crown Vics rear deck is felt that works well with any tinter trying to get the job done, right :lol

Take your heat gun and blast the area of the deck where the felt meets up with the back window and third brake light. Move quickly passing the gun from one side to the next or youll burn up the felt or maybe set something on fire.

you should see the felt react to the heat by shriveling down or curling down. This gets the felt out of the way and only takes seconds, which beats the time consuming task of removing the rear deck. :lol

This tip has stirred debate B4 ..it's been around for a LONG time...I personally do it on certain cars (not just the vic) for years without EVER burning the rear deck. However you will not convince other tinters easily to do this because it's a scary thought of the possibility of burning the deck ...that thought scares most away from it or even trying it.

A heater gun on low with a quick pass does do wonders though..you don't have to convince me.

Never even thought of that, but even still no thank you. Personally, that draws the line when you are technically "melting" their rear deck in my book, and I'd probably get fired if I even thought of trying it. Cutting seals is one thing, but melting stuff is something totally different especially when there are other ways.

I,m with you on that bro. I try to leave the car in the same shape it came in as when it leaves! Its to easy to screw something up like that when the deck is not that hard to remove in the first place if its needed at all! :lol6 JMO though.

I admit I have done this, but I also will line the back of the rear deck with masking tape letting it hang over about 1/4 inch and tucking it down with a hard card :inot
