Guest yes
It has been below zero weather for about 18 hours now and my 95 toyota camry worked fine this morning, but when I tried to open it later with the remote it made a clicking noise like the lock was opening but remained locked - the red alarm light inside also started flashing much faster than it usually does. When I pressed the button again, nothing happened, and when I tried to open it by putting the key into the door, it didn't turn on either side, and not even the trunk would open. I have no idea how to get into my car - can anyone help?
magictinter
squirt some de-icer on the keyhole, it sounds like it may be frozen.
Mr paladin
you might want to try heating up the lock with a blow dryer, but what do I know I am in texas
Guest yes
Thanks for the advice - I have now tried de-icer and a variety of heating things, but it just won't work. I have a feeling it went into some sort of lockdown and I've no idea how to fix it, so I'll probably have to just get it towed to the shop. Guest metint
Could be the battery has lost charge to operate even the tiniest of electrical commands...
Guest Boo
did this all the time when I lived in ohio, take a lighter and heat your door key, should unlock right away.
Guest Boo
btw - chances are the battery itself is froze and the car wont start anyway. Bring the battery inside to thaw. Sucks but it happens!!

Guest yes
I ended up having a locksmith come out, and apparently my car is about impossible to break into, so he towed it to the shop. They finally got into it after quite awhile, and it turns out the battery was dead, and the key doesn't fit in the keyhole (I've rarely used the key to open the door and had no idea). So, got the battery replaced, and I don't know if I'm going to have them fix the keyhole, because they have to take the doors apart and it's really expensive. Thanks for all your ideas, though
