How about if all tinters worked from set prices and stuck to them ??????????? or in the near future we might out price our work so we will work for F$ck all how about that and them low prices YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE :dunno

Hey Tint Wiz, where abouts are you in the UK?

In Barnsley we've had quite a few tint shops open up in the past 6 months.

Is it the same where you are?

From our experiences we've found that the newer shops are offering the cheaper prices... I wouldn't want to call them hacks, but without seeing their work I can't comment the quality :dunno

So the customers choose the job that's cheapest, and then have to come to the experienced Quality tinters to have all their problems fixed at a later date.

Here's the trick...don't be just 20$ higher than the hack competition..be 100$ higher. When people see such a price difference, they know without asking which shop is going to be better and why.

Being that much higher, it's easier to illustrate to the customer that you get what you pay for, and that joe blow down the street is an entry level option, low grade film and intallation, yours however is superior in material and workmanship.

If you are only 20 bucks higher than Joe Blow, then your sales pitch will not ring true.

Please, TRUST ME ON THIS ONE. If you ignore my advice and get into a price war, then you and I both know where that leads. (Whoring out the market)

would agree with td!

or you can always have a less expensive film to offer for the match this guys price or phone shoppers, why yes I do have a lower quality film thats nice and will last a few years the price is this xxcc, once they come to your shop you can show them the differences between the two.

won't work all the time but its worth a shot to get em in and upsell them to a quality film.

Yes and tell them what cheap film looks like after a couple years. TD also brings up a very valid point $20 is not much in the quality improvment department but $75 or $100 might get the wheels spinning as to a real quality increase! :uh JMO

yep if every quote was within 20 bucks there would'nt be much difference except what the tinter was telling them! then they'd have to take it all in and pick someone!

I know how you feel! In my area tinters have been charging the same price since the late 80's. With all the improvements of one peice back glass and lifetime film they still charge the same and there's only 4 of us here besides 1 or 2 hackers. I'm the only one who offers lifetime film and most of my calls ask price I tell them and they say old so and so only charges this much and then I explain the difference in films and they say, well I won't have this car more than 2 or 3 yrs so I don't care what happens after that to the film. Makes me wonder why I don't offer a standard film to price match???? Hell, it cost more for a car wash around here now than it did in 10 yrs ago. WTF :uh

so offer the standard film and get more business and if you can up sell the customer then its a win win situation for all!

if you don't then you still made more money then not any at all!

consider it a discount that the customer does'nt see!
