Guest AutoAppearancesInc
Guys: Hope everyone had a great holiday and Happy New year to all. I will be doing a ( <snip> ) install on a 2002 BMW M5 sometime next week. I don't think I'll have a problem with the front bumper. But, that hood looks difficult. Thiis is what I was thinking of doing: Get the center lined up. Tack down the center. Tack down the one end of the hood. Tack down the other end of the hood. Then attempt to get the front of the hood section around the grill. Is that correct?
Guest 503 Motoring
THe best way to tackle that hood is to do a coast to coast. Start at one side and line up with slip onder the film. Squeegee it out towards the fender feom about halfway between the hood line and the fender. Lift the very edge and spray just a bit of alcohol in there then squeegee again. THen lift and re slip all the the remaining film. Stretch to the other side and do the same technique as above. Pull the center grill pieces down and gently lock under the rondale. Pull the lt sidew down and lock next to the grill then the Right. Squeegee everything into the rondale area . Then break the lock under the rondale and spray alcohol in there and sqeegee out. Then lock down the center grill piece and Whe La you are done. Should be no trim on that kit.
Guest PPF SENSEI
Well said 503. After you do two or three of these hoods using the steps 503 described, you should be able to knock those bad boys out in no time...
Guest 503 Motoring
Thanks Sensei! We do mainly BMW up here and a lot of them. When the 02 bodies were out we could do a complete upper in about 25 minutes with little if any trim and just a bit of heat on the edges. That is where you become profitable in this business with the dealerships.
Guest Sidewinder
We have done quite a few E39's the traditional start in the middle way... I guess either will work. Just get your own system down and things will start to roll!!
