angel is my dog. she is 16 years old. she is an english setter. we've had her since I was 4 and she always was plagued with tumors. but she was always upbeat, never too tired to get up and go hunting or wag her tail to greet you. as time went on she got slower and slower and now she is on her deathbed. the vets thinks she has tumors in her lungs and stomach (coughing like crazy and won't eat anything) so we have decided to put her down on monday, but before that we are going to take her out for one last hunt, if she doesn't make it when we are hunting then she passed doing what she loved which I would rather have than some stranger sticking a needle in her. it just hurts me to see her in this constant state of pain. always coughing and never eating...but she still gets up and wags her tail at you smiles through the pain just to make your day a little better. god I'm gonna miss her.

this helped me a lot,,,,,

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

this morning around 2 am angel started coughing again. I just thought it was the regular deal like always then she stopped. I fell asleep to have my dad wake me this morning telling me she died...we didn't even get to take her on her last hunt. angel is gone forever but I will never forget
