I know plotters have been the subject of much discusion on this site and it has already helped me a lot, so thanks in advance

I am looking in to buying a plotter for my tint shop, however it seems to me the biggest problem is going to be the software. I am a uk based company so im looking for british Vehicles. The only total solution I have found is Beakarts computer cut with software but they seem to be charging and arm, leg AND blood for both the plotter and software :spit . I know the plotter can be bought for much, much less but I then still have the problem of the database.

To be honest, I seem to be going round and round in circles. I want the plotter to cut vinynl as well as tint, but I understand most plotters will do this anyway as its all in the blade angle.

Come on guys, please help a poor, confused uk tinter!!!

plotters are made for cutting vinyl and PPF. plotters for tint IS NOT the wave of the future. learn to tint by hand.

every place I know that has a plotter system charges $99 to tint cars. there's a reason why they can only get $99, and we can get $225-$300.

I can only offer this...

Most custom cut databases are and have originated in the North American market... little to nothing has been done for other markets such as the UK, Europe, Russia, Australia, South America, etc.

If you want another choice in guidance as to the direction computer cut is taking in your respective market, please use the following contact information:

cell: 00447785293360

email: jden.braber@cpfilms.co.uk

CPF is currently investigating the gathering of patterns for database in all areas of the globe where window film is a growth industry (and certainly other film makers aligned with plotter assisted cutting are doing the same). I am unsure the depth and scope of their advances in the UK, however, John is a good man and will tell it to you straight. :spit

I primarely want the plotter to cut vinyl. But pre cut tints are a popular option with the boy racer's and this is a market I'm interested in.

My tint shop will probably still use the good old ofla hand cut as my tint shop is and will always be about quality not quantity. I also cannot see how a machine could cut film faster than me espcialy considering we normaly use 2 to 3 shades on a car.

Thanks for cpfilms details, I will contact them but I think I already spoke to them and, as yet, they have nothing in place.

Any other ideas?

why don't you try Tinttek, They do have most of the U.K autos . ask and see if they are ready to release them yet.

If Tintek has your data info-patterns-Their system works great. We used it for 2 years! Their patterns work good! I have since changed Software to something better, but I'm sure they only offer U S makes. We hand cut 15 years --as everyone knows--you cant tint if you cant cut-but the computer is so nice as a helper. :lol ss

What are the disadvantages of using a plotter? I am considering trying one as we have a shortage of experienced tinters and if we can keep the guys we have tinting, and have a lackie cutting the film with the plotter, we'll get more done.........well thats the theory.

Is the cut edge any good as the top edge isn't important as we cut it on the car any way but the sides would need to be a clean cut.
