:nope .... years ago I removed 300ft. of plexiglass on a "florida room" .this was the worst thing id ever seen or done. I used a mix of denatued alcohol,ammonia,and lots of soapy in the mix. this worked well I used several towels and spray mix in about a 2 sq.ft. area and rub circular. the adhesive melted like butter, came right off!..... the towels were trashed but like 8 hours later and a hot plate of dinner from the nice old lady I was driving home. my boss told me $500.00 but gave me $600 cuz the lady called and said I did such a good job :)

got job to remove tint on airplane windows after someone (not me ) ruined them..what is safeest way (if any ) to remove film. :beer:

Is it a small single engine plane with a bubble canopy???

I talked to an older guy last week at an airshow that had tinted the top of his canopy himself, in strips. Allwrinkled... looked like :beer .

Removal on plastic glass works without scratches if there is a scratch resistant surface. There is a 99% chance that the glass used for any plane does have that. It is always a good idea though to demand a small testing area whenever you are in doubt. Or even when not, shows you are professional shows you care.

The protective SR coating you speak of Kohler, can also come up when the film is peeled off. PS adhesive will take it (SR coating) off reflective coated glass and window film... stands-to-reason lifting the SR is possible with acrylic and polycarbonate. :thumb

Good to have you back metint. Someone has to fill in the gaps in my knowledge. I am glad I demanded the testing area. Always leave yourself room for sliding out.

      I just realized this forum might be only for the professional tinter. I'm a DIY'er and was hoping to get some expert advice on selecting the best "home product" to apply to my windows on my home in order to reduce/control the heat coming through the windows.       Gull wing system install

      Both can be challenging; Gullwing already has the adhesive with a liner that needs to be removed and pressure applied to seat the adhesive with as few air pockets as possible. Any hiccups means a do over with each strip. Think about how it would look from the outside, not to mention the task of keeping it evenly aligned as you move along each strip. Practice makes progress, not perfection. I've got a few feet of white left over from my days in the industry and I can assure anyone will be challenged to install the stuff. What I have is predecessor of Gullwing and I cannot remember what they called it back then. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Dow995 structural sealant is akin to working with peanut butter; it can be messy, but once dry it has a much cleaner look to a Gullwing with air pockets trapped. Sealant can easily drip or contact unwanted surfaces, making clean up fun. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Either way, if there's any need for removal after a lengthy period of time, it could be work intensive to not do damage to the frame. Also, for both, you are best of waiting no less than one week film dry time (sun exposure and or warm and dry weather conditions) before applying any anchoring system, lest you find yourself with film lift in areas where the anchoring system was under stress to pull away.
