So I had one and the fear struck as I saw it pull in on arrival. I've done the bonnevilles and rare le sabre before but you just don't see these that often.....all together 9 windows, a brake light that is smack up against the back glass, it's a giant turd!!! I never cut the 3rd brake lights out it looks cleaner doing without cutting.... So after the standard pop the bottom cussion out and taking out two 18mm nuts that retain the seatbelt couplers, the back cushion slides right up. Then pop out two plastic Christmas tree clips from the front of the rear deck lid. Then the deck lid slides forward exposing the 3rd brake light. Two 10mm bolts (one on each side) and the…

98 Olds Intrigue

I tinted the above stated car yesterday and I was wondering... Is it a common occurence to have to 2-piece the back glass on this car?? I was trying to 1-piece it and I couldn't shrink the film in the upper corners. Too much film up there. So after 2 attempts and a bunch of wasted film, I 2-pieced it and it went better. (The dot matrix is beside the point.) Not that I mind the 2-piecing, because I need the experience. But has anyone else had this problem? Can this back glass be one-pieced? Or is it just my lack of experience? This was my first Intrigue, after all. Any input or advice would be greatly appreciated.

I have a BG to do on one of these tomorrow and I have not done one yet looks straight forward, just wondering what the best type of anchor to use on these shaped rear windows because on vehicles with windows in this shape, I always end up scrapping a piece or two of tint because when I am shrinking, I'll end up with some creases at either the top or bottom. Here's a link to an image of the BG: http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http:/...024&bih=576 Any advice would be great!

68 CUTLASS 2 DOOR

I'm doing a 68 Cutlass Supreme this afternoon and was wondering the difficulty level. I know that the back glass is really flat and shouldn't be a problem. Does anyone know if the quarters are easy to do? Also, does anyone have tips for keeping the dirt out of the film. A 40 year old car is bound to have some caked on filth. Thanks.

Anyone have experience tinting a 1996 Oldsmobile Achieva SL (4D)? I'm about to get mine done but I don't know whether I'll go to a shop or get it done via a friend of mine, or what, so I want to know how the process is in order to gauge the labor, etc.

I did this car on July 3rd. Tried to get it in one piece again, but still ended up doing it in 3 total. I did an overlap across the bottom and a defroster cut on the top line. I hated that I had to mess with this one, but the customer wanted it done for his 16 year old son and was willing to pay. I did give him a price break as they had the rear seat and deck out of it already.....so, back glass and windshield strip for two hundy forty five! They were happy as could be.....and I got paid good for the headache. Any of you that can do those in one piece and not have a film failure shortly I tip my hat to you.....would love to see how it is done. full rear view …

he he...kinda wondering why this dinosaur escaped notice here at the dude. anyone doing this beast (RIP) in one piece? The way I found best: wet-shrink the lower half....dry on top. trick: shrink the film liner DOWN. (use yer bare hands while shrinking and/or paper towel over card to avoid scratching the film) Don't worry too much about shrinking it down perfect. This technique works kinda like popping out a dent. While the film is shaped backwards, when it's installed it pops right in place. Still...I'm kinda glad this beast is dead.

I own a 92 cutlass supreme, am i doomed? 1 2 3 4

So, I own a 1992 cutlass supreme and today I was looking around to see how much it would be to tint. I called a few places and so far $300 was my highest price (it was early so not many places were open). I just read a few cutlass threads and it seems this car is a f**k and a half to tint, because of the back window. I've seen you guys say that you charge about $600 to do it. That is nearly half what I paid for the car so I just cannot justify that. Is there anything I can do to get a fair quote? Can I just say "you can make it a two piece"? Will that make it easier for them? Im in Buffalo, NY btw.

Well, I was one of the lucky ones!! Actually had a damn Cutlass come in. When I made the appointment, I was like yeah right, that guy will never come in, not for that much! Much to my dismay, he showed up, right at 9:30am. :confused But in the end, it turned out great. Second one I have ever had to do. First one....well, lets not talk about it. But I one pieced this one and got the matrix all down. Of course the customer didnt appreciate it, but I felt good. TINT ON!!!

87 Olds Calais won't Restart
by Guest vanwinkle_15- 4 replies
- 4.1k views
Both Aunt and Grandmother have 87 Olds Calais that will not restart after driving car on errands, (yes, grandma then walks home). Both cars have about 50,000 miles. The cars will crank but won't fire-up. Thousands of dollars have been spent repairing these cars only to have the symptoms reappear. Have most recently replaced the Crankshaft Position Sensor. The TDD Transmission Direct Drive Soleniod? has also been replaced. Any ideas? The mechanic that replaced the Position Sensor stated that this is typical of the 87 Calais and brazenly called them lemons?

My 1986 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme won't start... at all. I have replaced the battery and the alternator already and its is dead, so much so that my little alarm light for my alarm system wont even light up, and its just a simple LED. I am out of ideas, and am very frustrated with the fact that my car withonly 66k miles on it in very good condition, with a good system in it wont start... (I disconnected the system, so that isnt doing anything to hurt the car) plz help I have no clue what to do and this is my last option b4 taking it in to the dealership and paying a shitload of money that I wouldnt have to if someone knows what the problem is... please help. :booga

Olds Intrigue 1 2 3

Did one of these recently. The customer brought it back because the dots started to silver out. I tried to save some time, so I cut off the film above the top defroster line to replace it. Still needed to be shrunk, but the damn dots wouldn't take glue for some reason. I've done one hundred cars before the same way, but this one would look good for about 15 minutes, then it would look like I didn't do anything different to the dots. I even sanded them before application this time. YUCK!

And get this, the father thinks its still in the barn, and has NO idea that the car has been a frame off restoration project. Its gonna be a fathers day present I asked the guy if I could adopt him The answer was no
