We tinted the doors and windshield . We covered the dash and used a soak rope. When we finished, the ignition would not read the key. We found that water had gotten inside a plug box on the passenger side kick panel. Opened the kick panel to access the plugs unplugged the 2 plugs and used compressed air to blow them dry . Put them back together and all worked fine. Not sure how water got down there , but it did.. Beware..

Tips to remove door panel ?

The bottom sweeps pull out and reinstall without issue , bottom load and it’s easy . I personally pop 3 of the 4 top panel plugs to make it a bit easier but unfortunately, the plug on the most outer edge is the same as the cx5 which will most likely break if you try to pop it so leave it in tact.

Does anyone know how these things come out? The panels are easy enough however redesigned, the windows are all identical to the previous models 2014 and up however for the life of me I cannot figure out how the rear headrest come out. The centre head rest is no problem, but the left and right only one of the two buttons release from what I can tell

Has anybody done one of these back windows and had a customer come back saying that the headlights behind them appear between every set of defroster lines. Kind of like headlights are stacked up on top of each other. SunTek HP 30

How are the front doors done without removing door panels. also if the door panel needs to be removed what is the process or is it worth it. The front glass is also laminated.

I am not an expert at tinting by any means, so I had my headlights profesionally done, and what should be an easy job has left an identical problem for the second time (and in different places on the same headlight each time) The first time i had them tinted i took this picture the next day, When i left the tint shop all was clear. http://i.imgur.com/08cfYIq.png The next 3 pictures were taken the second time I had them tinted (but later that night) and once again nothing showed up when i left the shop. This is the same light as seen in the first picture. http://i.imgur.com/4w3RHXM.png http://i.imgur.com/1HiQF7X.jpg http://i.imgur.com/pvgHRx7.jpg The guy di…

Hi guys, Just wondering how hard is the Mazda 5 convertible to do, as the rear screen looks very curvy. Thanks

Inspected one today as they have just released this new model here downunder. Rear screen looks a little flatter and the doors have no rear 1/4s. It looks like door trims should be removed with the front door swooping up to the inside mirror which makes access more difficult for those that don't pull. No doubt it will have those breakable white plugs that are so prevalent in all of today's new generations of new Mazdas. Devil

Curse you!!! yup! it melted the trim getting that crease out... it was really sunny and did not see this yesterday. Total damage $60 for replacement. i called Carsmetics and they wanted $175 to re touch it. I told them, I want to fix it, not buy a whole new door. Prove that reading and applying the advice posted here are worth it!!!!

Major problems with 2010 Mazda 3 Hatchback... 1 2 3 4

I am hoping some experienced tinters out there can help! I brought my brand new 2010 Mazda 3 Hatchback to a local tint place (they were recommended by a friend, his tints look great on his Honda). I picked the car up, and on the way home I noticed gaps (between the end of the tint and the edge of the window) in just about each window - as if each piece was too small for each window. This is computer cut SolarGard tint. I brought the car back, and the owner spotted all the issues right away and said he'd do the job over. They call me after they steamed all the tint off my windows and attempted to re-tinted the first window. They said that the same thing is happen…

Identical windows and door panels in every aspect as the new 2014 Mazda 3 sport. Back window is easier than the previous model (its more like the 04-08 style) Tint Tek users can use the side patterns for the sport style till the sedan is loaded in shortly .

It seems that there is a Mazda issue in which after a rain or car wash, if you roll your window down and then back up as if maybe going through a drive-thru the moisture will transfer from the outside belt molding to the inside molding. When you roll the window up you get water streaks all over the inside of the glass. I had a customer who thought that this was happening somehow because we tinted the windows and wanted us to figure it out. There are Mazda forums that explain that this is a Mazda issue and not any way related to tinting. Now you know.

Holy christ!! finally they have downsized this back window a bit. Easy shrink and easier install. The defrost lines are not nearly as thick as the last model. Rear door windows are easy the quarter windows take a little maniplation to get into place but once inquick squeege to anchor it and an easy reach ttol for the rest and shes done.

Just FYI, I've done a few of these and this is the first one I've melted, the rear plastic trim piece right behind the quarter glass, I barely heated up a little speck and it was bubbly melt city. Reminded me of the old Avalon trim pieces that used melt real easy.... And it lists for 30 frickin dollars, so be careful!!

The first one of these just came to our dealership . I just got it at the home shop tonight. Totally redesigned. I'll be doing the Tint Tek 2020 window patterns on them early tomorrow morning followed up by tinting it. The back window needs nothing to come apart and is an easy shrink. 2 less 1/4 windows on this style and they install tight. I'd rather have the extra 2 windows than these 2 new ones. The panels do not need to come off but come off easily if you want to with only 2 screws. I was able to remove the bottom seals without full panel removal ( yes they are separate from the panels now) Easy car overall with the exception of the new pita 1/4 windows

Up until last year with a couple of Nissan Altimas, I had never had any problems with peanuts. Got a 2012 Mazda 6 in and getting peanuts down both left and right sides. Problem is, unlike my experiences with the Altimas, I can't get em out. Anyone else run into this or is there a problem with my shrink (soap method?) Any advice appreciated. This is one I haven't been able to figure out. Easy shrink too. Just can't understand it.

This is a little challenging, the qtr windows in the doors are a bit tight but you can nail em. Panel Pullers: The dr side door has one screw behind the door handle, pop out the tweeter at the top of the door, and then look into the armrest handle. Peel back the rubber trim on the right hand side and a little screw is down there. The panel pops right out then. Every other panel has a plastic handle built into it that you must remove the cover then remove two 10mm bolts everything else is the same otherwise. Look great tinted, I did a quick cut on the qtr glass test fit it then re cut with adjustments to where there were light gaps.

Just got done tinting one. For those that had problems with back glass on the last model, you shouldnt have any problems with this new model. Nice easy back glass. Kinda like the new Camry's back glass. Only pain is that they have added matrix to the top of the glass now, but a bit of sanding and glue and turned out great. Another thing that they changed, is the quarter glass on the back door...used to have the printing stamp etched on the inside...no longer, now its on the outside. Other than that...not much to know...easy car. :beer

Mazda 6 - Door Quarters
by Guest monkeycustard- 7 replies

Evening All! Mazda 6 Door Quarters look extremely tight. Almost like there is no give to tuck in the tint on the sides and curved top. Anyone done one of these. Not sure if UK version is different. :-S Is it a door panel off job, but even so tucking in the tint, how? Is it easy to just pop the glass out and replace. I hate doing that but if needs be. Thanks in advance.

Easy car, but I found out the hard way that a 20" roll is short by about 1 inch on the back glass. This back glass looks kinda hard b/c it has alot of curve from side to side(reason why 20" won't work), but was only a 2 minute dry shrink.

Hello fellow tinters. I was wondering if anyone can give me a tip on cutting the side roll down windows on the van. I made the side cuts first. What I realized is that when you roll the window down to make the top cut I start to see that there is a gap on the side. There are no light gaps when the window is rolled up but when rolled down you can see it on the side sorta. I hope I explained it well and you folks understand what I mean. Any help would be great. Thanks in advanced. Regards, HaX420

Has anybody had any problems with the tint sticking to the defrost lines on the new mazda 6? I tinted one last week, wasnt bad to heat shrink just took a little time, got it on and when i ran my blue maxx over it there were a few bananas popping up on about 4 or 5 of the defrost lines on each side. I turned on the defroster and went to the rest of the car thinking it just had to dry a bit, nope same thing, so after heating it and using my lil chizzler I still couldnt get these buggers to go away. I tried a relief cut and that did absolutely nothing either. Finally I sent the customer on his way and said if it doesnt dry up in a week give me a call. sure enough I get a cal…

2010 Mazda 3 HB I'm assuming that the spoiler on the hb is just the 2 bolts that are about 12mm. If I take that off then it looks like smooth sailing from there. Any advice on the quarter windows or does the film slide right under the seals? Thanks
