Hey everyone! I have south facing windows that get direct sunlight into my main room. The windows are dual pane on a 2017 built house. I have had multiple installers recommend DR film. I am considering 3M DR15 or DR25. Heat and glare are the main issues. The tv is almost impossible to enjoy when the sun is shining through. The suns direct path passes the lower windows. I am considering all 8 windows DR25 or DR15 on lowers and DR25 on higher ones. I feel DR15 will do the best to block glare but it might darken the room too much, which is why I am thinking DR25 on uppers. I am located in Central TX, how common are window breaks, given that summers are 100+ for July-Aug? Tho…

We have been using olfa blades forever but in the past year we have noticed the quality of the blades is not the same as it used to be. Blades are not as sharp and pressing harder is starting to etch the glass on certain vehicles. Would like to know if anyone else is experiencing this or is there a better brand ss blades that you have been using that is a better trusted brand.

Wassup everyone. I been practicing tinting on a few cars (mine and my family's) for about 2 months now and I feel like I've improved a lot since I first started. I do get these tiny bubbles around the edges sometimes. Can anyone give me any tips on how I can mitigate or eliminate these? (Ik its likely contamination but what can I do to improve my installation?)

In the jurisdiction in which I live, we are allowed to have 35% in front and 20% in rear. I'm wondering @ what VLT% does the driver's visibility in adverse conditions like night time driving, storms, cloudy weather, fog, floods, etc., start being impacted? Front side windows: 45.00% 43.00% 42.00% 41.00% 40.00% 39.00% 38.00% 37.00% 36.00% 35.00% Rear Side Windows: 38.00% 33.00% 32.00% 31.00% 30.00% 29.00% 27.00% 25.00% 23.00% 22.00% 21.00% 20.00% Rear Window: 45.00% 43.00% …

Hi guys, Im new here and learning how to tint… I live in Europe and to find tools and tints to buy here is very difficult. I just got some tools and tint on this website: tintwrap.eu This website was the only one I could find some felt squeegee and high quality films with the best price to deliver in Europe without ripping me off. the delivery was quick, about 2 days. and the material was high quality as well. Do you guys have any other websites suggestions? Thanks

Does anyone have any issues or complaints regarding these tints? Which one is better? I've gotten quotes from different installers for the same amount of panes and price is roughly the same. I'm in Houston, TX. Mixed reviews about Suntek is throwing me off, but many people in my neighborhood as well as our surrounding area have used this installer. A neighbor showed me pics of her recent install and it didn't look bad. The installer quoting Solar Gard and Madico is part of a larger national chain, so they have access to a lot of different films. Suntek SYDS - $1,417.50 Solar Gard Slate - $1,578.00 Madico Optivision - $1,412.00

Hey guys I am in the process of having window film installed in my home but have a question about which brand I should go with. Hoping yall can help me out. I have a room that faces a busy street and as a result my blinds pretty much always stay closed. I love having natural daylight but not so much people being able to see what i'm doing in my room/all my expensive equipment. I used to work in the window film industry as a helper/installer/salesman when I was in highschool and we did a lot residential/commercial work. The specific brand of film we used always left a certain blue and cool appearance. Is there any brand of residential film that do…

Hi folks, I have south facing double pane windows that get a lot sun here in Las Vegas. Those windows get extremely hot and I want to get them tinted. I do not mind if they are black, mirror, dark, light, etc. I am looking for performance blocking the heat without doing a complete blackout. Initially I was thinking of going with 3M Prestige 70 since 3M is the only reputable brand I could think but I did read a few posts here in the forum and I see that there is other brands with perhaps better products like “Huper Optik”. I have not reached out to installers yet since I wanted to research what would be the best product for my needs, could you folks recommen…

Brand new vehicle, went to a reputable tint shop and had Formula One Stratos installed. When all was done the shop pointed out to me that they noticed an area on the back passenger window that looked like adhesive or residue but it would not come off. They said maybe it came from the factory this way or something? Running your fingernail over the area you can very barely feel a difference. What is weird it's almost a perfect arch and looks like a white residue with a sort of pattern to it. You can see it more so at certain angles and under brighter light. I have tried to clean it off with glass cleaner to no avail. I will attach a photo but it's kind of hard t…

Hi! I’m new to the tinting world. Just completed a 5 day tinting course and want to purchase some films to start my mobile tinting. We trained with Geosheild, but there was a lot of talk about Maxpro and how it was good as well. Does anyone have experience with both of these? Which one is better to work with and easier to shrink? Prices on both are pretty close to each other. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. thank you!

Hello everyone this is my first post on the forum, very nice. Today i was tinting an old Mercedes I'm not sure the exact model of the car however when trying to wet shrink the rear windshield I first mark down an H but after that I get left off with really large tree branch looking fingers, i try to separate them the fingers don't budge, either way i continue and try to shrink the large fingers, i start from the tallest points down to the edge sometimes it works, sometimes the film gets stubborn mid way through the shrinking process, and sometimes when following the finger to shrink it never ends, I've also tinted the rear of a Pontiac firebird and it turned out clean. Th…

Just want a reliable tint with good grey shade and good heat rejection. Thinking about 40% back 3 windows and 60% 2 frond windows. Any suggestion is greatly appreciated.

Experimented with the orange crush, fusion hybrid, dark blue blue max, black out ppf blade, etc for prepping windows before install. I keep two separate handled squeegees, one for prep/cleaning and one for installation. I was wondering if yall had some recommendations for the best squeegee to leave behind as little debris and dust as possible, and if it would be better to have a softer or firmer blade for prep

There has to be an easy way to explain distortion on a curved window that is directly in front of them. It’s more noticeable now because you’re staring at what you just bought. Reason no 3 I dislike windshields. Super picky overly paranoid customers. Also sup y’all. Just saying what’s up, and make sure this topic is at the top for now.

Hello, I have a 2024 Lincoln nautilus that I had the 2 front windows and windshield tinted with ceramic tint. The front windows are perfect however the front windshield has a blueish tone to it which I was explained that the windshield comes factory with some sort of uv protection. Does anyone know what I could use to counter the blue that would give it a black appearance. Thank you in advance!

Last August we lost a huge oak tree that had shaded the entire front of our house and our A/C unit. Since motorized blinds are soooo expensive, we decided to do a window film instead. So far we have had a Llumar rep and a ASWF rep visit and give us some small samples and quotes. The windows are large and face south, so our living/dining room will be getting the full sun treatment now...as well as our furnishings, floor, etc. We can already tell a major difference in the inside temperature on sunny days, I can't imagine what it's going to be like in mid-July when it's 90 degrees outside. Not to mention burning up our A/C unit because it'd be running non-stop. We want to …

I had my 2019 Fiesta Hatch done with 3M Ceramic at D&L Tinting in Baltimore (Parkville) It has only been 2 days so I will give a week Can bubbles & air lines ( they are bubbles also, correct?) develop if they werent there the first 2 days. I am concerned that they are developing late, that they won't go away Regarding the dot matrix, before I had mine done I saw a few of them that were perfect. Mine is not. D&L says not all are, that they cant guarantee because some cars have low dots, some have high, and some are in the middle of the glass. My question are they right The same goes for my hatch glass, …

So I’ve been tinting for about a year now. I’ve done about three or 400 feet of film. I’ve had no professional formal training. I’ve watched lots of YouTube channels and spend a lot of money on some highly rated tools. I’ve only used high-quality film in my self teachings. The film I use for learning has been Geo shield, pro classic and I used 100 feet of 35% from another competitor company. Some cars that I do or have done seem to have minimal bubbles after I’m done and I can usually get these bubbles out. I’m not doing windshields yet but I’ve seem to have gotten the back glass on hatchbacks down pretty well. At this point I’ve only done station wagons and SUVs. I’m ner…

Hello All! long time lurker, first time poster. My long time installer has always used f1 pinnacle on my cars and I’ve always loved the way the tint turns out. Recently he switched to XPEL. So having no choice I had him put on the top of the line plus on my new Model Y (only the fronts). I have to say I’m gutted. The color isn’t the charcoal I’m used to and has a blue color to it. The front and factory rears look like completely different cars. I called him and he is going to change the tint out for me, I told him I will eat the cost. My fault for not checking. He’s honestly great and stands 100% behind his work. I have …

Have had many vehicles tinted and have used various films from Suntek, 3M, Solargard and Xpel over the years. This is the first time having Llumar IRX or any Llumar branded film. Only 48 hours in but I never recall seeing the amount of haze I’m seeing with this stuff. Also noticing very intense uniform vertical bands when looking through the window with my sunglasses, like the roll of film was creased? I don’t know. The whole thing seems a little off. Looking for any advice and experiences with this film. Thanks

Batch production aside as in a bad roll. Take 2 films. Xpel XR Plus 70% vs 50% I had 50% installed on the same windshield. I have zero issues with clarity since it was done a month ago.... I was expecting some cloudiness depending on sunlight, LAH, etc until it finally cured On the original 70%, that was my issue. I was experience cloudiness Which led me to the four and you guys taught me about LAH LAH etc in certain lighting conditions and this lasted for 5 months until 1 day it all disappeared. For my own Wiki, was it because the 70% might have had too much water on the install . I was expecting the sam…

Just asking a question that had made me very irritated lately. I’m relatively new in the tint game but I can tint doors flawlessly. However when I tint windshields in particular I cannot figure out how to not get small dust spots on the side of the windshield every single time. I have watched many videos on the reverse roll technique I try to take not hitting the side panels very serious when applying the tint however still seem to run into issues with dust specs. Please help!
