I recently did my second one of these and overall not too bad. Front doors are a little tight. I also trimmed out the quarters a little bit since the rubber seemed to actually go into the matrix dots. If you’re hand cutting the rear window may take you a minute to cut out but a very simple shrink and install. I hand cut and two staged this one but next time I will probably pull the front panels.

Have one of these coming in tomorrow. Any one done one yet? Any tips on bottom sweep removal or things to look out for with quarter windows or the back glass? Thanks in advance!

The front doors on this car are very narrow at the mirror. Difficult to get behind the high door panel. The rear deck has a hide-a-way rolling shade for the backglass. This causes a large hump in the hat rack. Back rolling is rather tough and the Reach or a black & white 12" are the only things getting past the hump. Up-charge on this car. It's a little bit of a PITA This is the rear deck with a 12" and a 6" black and white next to each other, lined up starting on the dot matrix, center of the hat rack.

I wanted to know if these could be done with wet shrinking, and how many pieces did you old skool tinters use to do them in, I used dry ofcoarse (easy way), how often do you guys get these in your shop 1971 Buick Riviera the one I did was much uglier than the one in the picture, it was all rusted and primered.

I am struggling with this one, so far I have three attempts on this back glass and all three have ended up with creases in the corners. I get the middle just fine and get the film worked down but once I get to the last 2-3 inches it like to get bunched up and I end up creasing it. I have done other back glasses that some say were difficult but this one has me stumped. Using the dryer sheet method and have adjusted my line on this last attempt higher, the first 2 I did and H this last one I did not. Using Llumar CTX 15.

The rear deck pulls right out with just flipping down the back seats. I found the doors to be a little bit more time consuming. The plactic around the windows snaps off easy, and there is one screw behind the door handle and two screws behind the door handle grip. I found the hardest part is taking off the plastic pieces that hides the two handle screws. Its only plastic so it can be broken easily. Other than this the car is straight forward.

I tinted a 2001 Century this afternoon and the rear glass about kicked my ass. It did not appear to be too difficult when I looked at it and I assumed it would be a fairly easy 1 piece install but I was WRONG. I was dry shrinking it and when I tryed to lay down the H pattern it would not cooperate. All the funnels went side to side instead of up and down. Although I hated to do it, I had to piece it by cutting on the defroster. My question is: Is there a secret to the rear glass on these cars that I do not know about? Thanks

I've done a few Buick regals but for some reason stuck on this car. Would be way easier with the panels off. Can't figure how to pop them off? Back window was cake. Found the torx behind the handles. There is something else holding these panels on? If its that brushed aluminum strip. How do you get it off?

This particular curve is getting to me I've done beetles, eclipses, whatever. Somehow this thing is worse........ am I just tired? Or is this particular glass just that annoying? I can't seem to resist the temptation to over-shrink. To clarify - I've been learning to Ryk Shrink. I can do the easy glass, no sweat. This bastard is tricky, and I am beating my head against the wall. It's 2AM, I'm on attempt #7..... I seem to have lost all ability...... I went to the old glove and gun method, and still fight creases.

About to do one next week for a friend. Glanced at it the other day and back glass looks like a piece of cake but anyone done the sides or any input? Those plastic seal covers that suround the roll ups come out letting the seals also come out? I got plenty of time to work on it but like a previous thread stated they are tight and just want to aliviate the hastle and remove if they dont run all the way down the window. Just looking for any input and if nothing else I will post my findings next week with a pic or 2. Tight car all in all and its the Super Charged Magillicutty edition.

Done one of these yesterday and the car was very simple. Back window, front roll ups and quarters were all easy. The rear roll ups were a bit more of a challenge for me though. Because there is no edge on the rear it was hard to keep from creasing when rolling the window all the way up. Not sure if that's a good explanation. I'm sure this isn't the only vehicle like this but does anyone have any suggestions if I get another like this?

Just got one in today the guys got a great dark green paint on it and we agreed on 35% all the way around. This is the first car I've done with absolutely no gaskets on the sides for the roll downs and the back window has no matrix and the gasket encasing the inside is so tight. The roll downs are actually encased in a metal frame so my cut is going to have to be spot on. Any pro tips from the oldschool? Before and after pics to come too

I tinted either a 2010 or 11 lacrosse this morning and custy called after picking up saying her back speakers are making a popping noise. I used an HP film, never had an issue before but wondering if it may be my first i didn't even notice if the antenna was in the backglass or on the roof? If it was the film would the speakers sound clear if you put in a cd? tried calling her back to see if it sounded clearer then but couldn't get up with her? I originally told her to give it some dry time and see what happens

Hey guys, crazy busy day yesterday! Had a guy drop off a Buick Lacrosse 2010 around 9 am, wet shrunk the back window and installed, came out good but a few puckers popped up on the defrost line, a few were vertical even, but it was only on the passenger side. Anyway, went on to the rest of the car and figured let them dry and come back to it. Went back and heated them from the outside then pushed outward along the line just to find them popping right back up. After a few tries with that I realized I had overheated the glue and there were visible glue marks. Went back to the puckers and made a few knicks in the film along the defrost line where the problems were and with h…

Easy shrink easy lay check around the inside of BG there is a rubber that sticks out. and looks like you are gonna be triming. I use my slim foot and push the rubber back and gives me more room.Roll ups are tight(GERMAN CAR) all in all not a bad car to do. 1/4 glass is kind of a pain.

Not many of these cars around , but be forwarned, the back window looks curved more than what it is, but it's a hard peice to load in by yourself because it's so long and not to mention it's a 2 seater. The 2 rolldowns are curved all to helll as well ..the 1/4 windows are good Didn't see any notes on this car so though I'd leave something

nobody has really mentioned the specifics of this car, I tinted one today and here is my take. EASY car to tint, the seal surrounding the roll ups are rubber and THEY PULL RIGHT OUT you dont even need to roll the window down to get them off, the bottom seal on the roll up comes out also, just pull back the top of the panel and pull it out. The backglass is pretty easy also it has a brakelight inder the deck but there is plenty of room to squeege it out with a sidewinder or bull dozer. the backglass is only about 48 inches wide and 30 tall, pretty small.

OK, had this guy come in this week & wants his 1976 Buick Skylark tinted. Everything but the windshield. The front windows will be no problem, frameless. I'm concerned about the back 3 windows. The glass is old, and has butyl oozing out into the viewable glass, along with rubber gaskets & seals. Anyone have any ideas or suggestions? I advised the guy that the BEST option was to have the back 3 windows removed, and I would tint them loose, then have them reinstalled. The car is near mint, except for the dirt and grime stuck in all the crevices & corners of the back 3 windows. I could easily just try my best to clean the glass IN the car, however I know …

I am tiniting a 2000 park ave. when I attempt the rear roll downs, I cut it to shape from the outside then I apply it to the inside. I do the top first but when I bring the window up there is a forming gap on the left vertical edge of the window. I don't know if the window shifts when it goes up or what but I cut it exactly to shape from the outside. the window comes out clear but there is a gap on the left vertical edge, what is the secret? I tried installing from the bottom first then the top but then there is a small gap on the right side, can some1 help me?

How do you pop off the door panel on a 2000 Century on the right rear ? The window is wedged in the up position, as it will not stay up on its own. My guess is that it came off track ?

I tried the strips idea but they are totally off, I tried doing a one-pice, nope. im really getting frustrated with this, HELP!!!

Older Buick LeSabre long skinnys
by Guest Braud Spectrum- 7 replies

I got to thinking about something today...I was tinting a '96 Buick Le Sabre...you know the one...it's got those hateful little long skinny windows in front of the D & P ? The first couple I did when they first came out... I heated the crap out of each of the dozen or so little fingers up and down each side of the little window... It's such a small space in there anyways and I always dreaded those two windows. Then I had an epiphany. The reason I hadn't even bothered to shrink was because it's problem was not top to bottom it was side to side. Why it took me so long to realize that I could easily solve the problem I'll never know. What I needed to do was simp…
