What are these little specs?
Hi guys new here and to window tinting. I have been having great success with learning to tint. Been doing great on alot of Ford F250 F350s etc. However I seem to be struggling with cars. I have a issue where the edge of the window and the seal line always has some tiny little specs that you can clearly see in daylight. Ceramic to avoid vehicle computer issues
Nobody told you not to keep selling the film you've been selling. You do you. Performance-wise, I'm speaking specifically IR numbers as they penetrate the skin deeper, reaching your nerves versus other forms of heat. So you feel the difference more with higher IR films, making it more comfortable. If I install an HP film on my vehicle, I won't feel a huge difference in heat rejection after installation. Does it block some heat? Absolutely. Will I notice it? Not really. Will I notice a difference with high IR blocking film? Yes. I just traded my Tesla Model 3P for a Model YP. I drove it three times in the first two weeks with no added tint, waiting to fit it into the schedule. I added XPEL XR Plus on all windows, and from the first drive, it was night and day. Now, it is all about your location. If I offered only HP here, I would lose customers like crazy cause majority know about Ceramic films and request them. Like I said before, over 90% of our installations are Ceramic tint, not because we push it or heat lamps, but because they walk in wanting that. How is pushing Ceramic films only making money for the manny? You would be charging double your current price for what, $200 more a roll for Global, which is $20-25 extra a car. There is zero logic there. Once again, you do what you feel is best for you. My response was not for you, so don't worry; nobody here is trying to convert you. -

Glass thickness and tint finish
It may be slightly different looking. The film could have faded on the others too or be slightly different just because of changes in manufacturing. If the glass is truly clear or tinted at all can happen too... Should be close enough. -

Looking at specs and at most on 3 of those you listed, in 20%, there is 16% more TSER at 66% than Global HP at 51%. I don't really think that's enough to justify the cost of the film or needing to charge accordingly. You can claim IR numbers but TSER tells the story without being some narrow band of IR measurements. Global QDPC being at 62% TSER so not that much lower than say Autobahn i3 that is 66%. Sadly, IMO, everyone that is pushing it are just helping the manufacturers make more... I will continue to use a film that I know has not had any failure of any kind in 17 years. One car that I personally seen at 13 years with 5%, no color change, fade, or other issues in a delivery vehicle that was always outside! -

Am I being too picky or should I go back?
So, I recently paid 350 Canadian to get my rear windows on a '13 gs350 done at a shop with decent reviews. He had 2 Porsches in his shop both getting ppf, so i didn't think I had to worry about his workmanship. I got it done, and left on vacation for 2 weeks. Just got back and washed my car, and noticed some I guess tiny air bubbles or lint stuck underneath the tint. Not sure if I should get it redone, or this is normal, and I'm just being super picky. Also there's this scratch on my rear quarter window which I'm pretty sure wasn't there before, I know they place the tint on the outside and cut to fit, then place it on the inside, any chance he messed up that badly cutting and scratched the outside? The small debris/air bubbles I can live with, the finger I tried pushing down after the wash, but it popped back up this morning. https://imgur.com/a/d7wkhql Tia -

most effective tool/method to pull sweeps
Have you tried tinting without pulling sweeps, panels, etc? If you get comfortable in doing so there is never a need for tearing a car apart. But I am a stubborn tinter stuck in his ways.👍 -

Glass thickness and tint finish
Hi all I have a large 3 panel window tinted on my home. Unfortunately one of the glass panels needs to be replaced. I contacted the manufacturer of the glass and they advised the original glass with is 4mm is not made any more. They can only do 5mm thick. Will this make a noticeable difference with the new tint? The tint will be from the same supplier once new glass is installed. Is there anything I can tell the tint supplier to try and match the old tint with the thicker glass -

Best Film ?
I don't believe the 99% IR heat rejection, as other places on their website say up to 96%. I also looked at several dealer websites, and the ones I checked all stated 96%. -

Best Film ?
The term best being focused on performance and installation really. Worked with Llumar films for a while and they weren’t the worst to install but films that curl inwards where the adhesive side can potentially roll on to itself are not fun, and I currently have IRX Llumar and my personal vehicle and I’m not definitely not satisfied with its performance. Xpel both performs and is priced very well, with it being one of the easiest films to install and shrink I have no complaints of it thus far. I’m narrowing it down to Xpel for its auto film, I’ve also heard great things about its PPF and ceramic coating, but also for its residential film which I’ve gotten the chance to use and it feels great. The other contender would be Ceramic Pro’s Kavaca film, which was easy to install, shrink, and boasts the best heat rejection of any film on the market which I’ve been dying to feel for myself. Only film I haven’t used was Autobahn which I’ve heard so much about but have yet to try for myself. I appreciate the response and I’m also very much enjoying the Xpel -

most effective tool/method to pull sweeps
I really would avoid using the hook tool, especially for the trim behind the handle. I really only use it for gentle prying. After, that I usually use a plastic trim tool shown above. Anything that hard I use an actual door belt tool with a handle on the end. Lisle makes one.
